The Kootenay Herb Conference is being held in Creston BC and it is a truly amazing valley. The conference is located next to the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area north of town and includes an abundance of nature trails. This world-renowned bird sanctuary is located on 17,000 acres of protected wetlands and boasts more than 265 species of nesting and migrating birds. You might also spot elk, deer or moose taking a stroll through the area. Agriculture plays an essential role in the community and the move to sustainable farm practices is growing at an amazing rate. This is evident is Creston's many farms and orchards, and their involvement in the slow food movement. HOW TO GET TO THE KOOTENAY HERB CONFERENCE

 

We're just over an hour west of Cranbrook on Highway#3; an hour and a half east of Nelson on Highway #3 via Kootenay Pass. If you are traveling from the United States, Creston is three hours north of Spokane following the #2 Freeway north to Sandpoint, then the #95 and #1 north to the border crossing of Porthill, Idaho.

 

Creston is serviced by Greyhound Bus Lines with routes coming in twice a day from Cranbrook and Nelson.

 

Creston is within two hours of two major airports the Cranbrook and the Castlegar Airports. For international flights, Spokane International Airport is a three-hour drive south of Creston in Spokane, Washington.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS

 

Nestled amongst the trees by a beautiful river, on-site camping is available for conference attendees. You may tent or bring your RV (no hook-ups available). We have numerous washrooms in the camp area and several showers available for those who are camping on site.

 

If you wish to stay in a hotel/motel there are several within a 10-minute drive of the conference site and some will be offering discounts to KHC attendees. Please contact us for a list of these accommodations.

 

MEALS

 

Meals for the weekend will feature locally grown foods and will reflect the amazing range of organic or naturally grown items available in this Valley. In addition to meat based dishes there will be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available for you throughout the weekend.
